Apple Mac Computer SSL secured POP3 email account settings

Clients of IT ZAP Website Design Works can follow this guide to setup their email accounts on an Apple Mac computer using SSL secured and encrypted settings.

(1) Open the Mail App and select the Accounts tab

Click the + button to Add a new Mail Account.

(2) Choose a mail account to add

Click … Add Other Mail Account.

(3) Enter your Email Account Details

Enter your Email Account Details

Click Create.

(4) Account must be manually configured

Yes it does, so click Next.

(5) Incoming POP Mail Server Info

Incoming POP Mail Server Info

  • Account Type : POP
  • Incoming Mail Server Name : yourdomain.com.au
  • Username : Your full email address
  • Password : Your CasE sENsiTiVE confidential password

Click Next.

Incoming Mail Server Port 995

  • Incoming Mail Server Port : 995
  • Use SSL : Tick YES
  • Authentication : Password

Click Next.

(6) Outgoing Mail Server Info

Outgoing Mail Server Info

  • Outgoing SMTP Mail Server Name : yourdomain.com.au
  • Username : Your full email address
  • Password : Your CasE sENsiTiVE confidential password

Click Create.

Outgoing Mail Server Port

  • Outgoing Mail Server Port : 465
  • Use SSL : Tick YES
  • Authentication : Password

Click Create.

(7) Mailbox Behaviors … Recommended, but you decide

Apple Mac Mailbox Behaviors

  • Delete sent messages when : Never
  • Delete junk messages when : One week old
  • Permanently erase deleted messages when : Quitting Mail
(8) Advanced … Recommended, but you decide

Apple Mac Mailbox Advanced Settings

  • Include when automatically checking for new messages : Tick YES
  • Remove copy from server after retrieving message : After one month

YAY … You are finished !

Check that you can both Send and Receive email messages. Everything should be fine.

If there is any Error, then go back and double-check for correct spelling of your Email Address, Password and Incoming/Outgoing Mail Server name.
