Folder structure of your website

What files are in each of the folders on my website? Which folders can I use and which folders should I never touch? Read on to find out.

catimages

  • Contains images for each Menu Category. Each is 400 pixes wide x 300 pixels high.
  • YES, upload images in menu … Products & Article Admin ⇒ Categories

css

  • Contains various CSS stylesheets that define the appearance of your website. NO, do not touch anything inside this folder.

docs

  • This is the folder where you would upload files available to download free, no charge. PDF Newsletters, Membership Forms, Word docs, etc.
  • IMPORTANT to use web friendly filenames. (1) all-lowercase-letters.pdf (2) and no spaces, use a dash-to-separate-words.
  • For example … “our-newsletter-14.pdf
  • Next newsletter you just change the number on the end … “our-newsletter-15.pdf

ect-pages

  • You will find HTML files in here that contain the raw code I pasted into menu … Store Admin ⇒ Content Regions (the Home Page blurb and Slideshow code)
  • Also, some website pages contain more advanced HTML code that use the Foundation Responsive Grid.
  • I write that code and save a backup copy in this folder so, if it ever gets messed up, I can retrieve and fix it in a jiffy.
email-messages
  • In menu … Store Admin ⇒ Email Messages there are a bunch standard Emails sent out by the Shopping Cart Software upon receiving a New Order, Payments, Order Status Change, Dispatch, New Customer Signup, etc.
  • All the HTML code for those messages is saved here in this folder as a backup.
font-awesome
images
  • jpg, png, gif images used by Ecommerce Templates. Up/Down arrows, ticks, crosses, shopping cart image, etc. NO, you would not upload anything here.
js
  • Contains various Javascript files used on your website. NO, do not touch anything inside this folder.
magicslideshow
  • Contains all the files used to run Magic Slideshow on your website. NO, do not touch anything inside this folder.
node_modules
  • Contains various files associated with the Foundation 6 Mobile Friendly Responsive Framework. NO, do not touch anything inside this folder.
pics
  • jpg, png, gif images I created and used in your website design.
  • There are separate sub-folders for Logo, Slides, bg Backgound Images.
  • Find “pdf-file-download.png”, “word-doc-file-download.png”, “winzip-file-download.png” in here.
  • YES, you can upload more images into this folder as you like.
  • IMPORTANT to use search engine friendly filenames. (1) all-lowercase-letters.pdf (2) and no spaces, use a dash-to-separate-words. You need to be able to find files by name when inserting into a webpage later.
prodimages
  • This is the folder where Ecommerce Templates uploads all webpage images when using the Image Manager in menu … Products & Article Admin
  • YES, there will be lots and lots of image files in here.
  • IMPORTANT to use search engine friendly filenames so you can find images when inserting into a webpage later.
scss
  • Contains various scss files used to generate the final mobile friendly CSS stylesheet for your website. NO, do not touch anything inside this folder.
Templates
  • Contains the HTML Template file used to build all pages on your website. NO, do not touch anything inside this folder.
vsadmin
  • Contains all the files associated with the Ecommerce Templates shopping cart and content management system. NO, do not touch anything inside this folder.
