  • v7.5.6 — 15 February 2023

There are some big changes for the checkout page for mobile devices, making the cart contents and layout easier to read and adding back product images even on small screens.

The digital downloads plugin is now no longer a separate plugin and is included in the core cart.

A logout button has been added to the Customer Login page plus a problem with paging has been fixed.

The system for signalling countries and states that are not supported has now been improved.

An option "baremenu" has been added to the automatically generated products menu which will just produce a plain Unordered List structure and can be used with 3rd part menu systems.

There is a button in the ECT Admin -> Product Options page which allows you to see what products an option is used on.

  • v7.5.7 — 21 March 2023

Preview images are now available for all categories, products and product attributes in the ECT Admin.

The ability to delete category and product images has been added to the ECT Admin. It's possible to delete all the images related to a product with one button in the admin.

The image upload system has been overhauled in the admin section. If the "gd" extension is enabled in PHP then image resize is possible and now if the Persits ASPJpeg object is installed on windows servers then again, image resize is possible on upload.

The amount of markup generated in the admin section and for the store generated product category menus has been reduced considerably. Also, the algorithm for generating these menus has been improved so that the menu generation is now much more efficient. Your pages will serve faster and use less server resources.

You can now set a default product or detail page image for products where none is set with the parameter...
    $defaultproductimage="images/logo.jpg"; // PHP product page
    $defaultdetailimage="images/logo.jpg"; // PHP detail page

The popup window for resending customer emails in the ECT Admin -> Orders page has been overhauled and modernized.

  • v7.5.8 — 23 April 2023

When deleting categories and products you now have the option to delete associated images.

There have been lots of changes in the PHP version for compatibility with PHP 8.2.

If a customer remained long enough on the Stripe payment page so that the user session expired and then entered payment details this could end up with the payment showing an error even though it was successful and this has now been fixed.

When paying with PayPal Checkout the cart could show a sub-total of zero and this has now been fixed.

A bug has been fixed where handling could still be applied for a Free Shipping discount that included handling.

There have been lots of improvements for the list management in the shopping cart.

WEBP has been added to the list of supported images types.

Google Analytics could throw an error when using a Latin locale with comma as decimal separator.

  • v7.6.1 — 4 July 2023, important PayPal Checkout v2

PayPal Checkout v2 with Inbuilt On-boarding.

Important Note: As part of the connection process for PayPal Checkout you will be asked if you agree to connect to ViciSoft SL and this is just so you can use the Ecommerce Templates shopping cart to provide onboarding services. In no way does it mean that there is a financial connection.

You may well have heard from PayPal that PayPal Standard is going to be discontinued at some point and this is the case for other, older PayPal technologies. To replace these we are releasing the update to our current PayPal Checkout integration which is PayPal Checkout v2.

This overhaul and update of our PayPal Integration now features an in-built on-boarding system which really only requires a few clicks in your ECT Store Admin to connect your store and start processing payments. It's even easier now than with PayPal Standard if that is possible. Just navigate to your ECT Admin -> Payment Providers page and you will see the new Onboarding Wizard for PayPal Checkout.

PayPal Pay Later messaging is available for your product, product detail and shopping cart pages. Using this you can inform your customers of the financing options available for the items in their shopping cart. Your customers can choose the Pay Later option at checkout to take advantage of those financing options.

The Webhooks system has been integrated so that changes in your PayPal account, such as performing a CAPTURE on a previously authorized order will reflect in your ECT Admin Orders page.

You can Capture, Refund, Void and Reauthorize orders taken through PayPal Checkout in your ECT Admin -> Orders page.

Please Note: Those that are already using PayPal Checkout can carry on without reconnecting after installing this update. However if you run through the connection wizard in the ECT Admin -> Payment Providers page it will give extra functionality and so is recommended.

The secondary admin logins now also control what menu items are seen in the ECT Admin area.

An important bug has been fixed in this release which could mean that when using SEO URLs, the system will not forward automatically to the SEO URL in some cases.

  • v7.6.3 — 3 October 2023

There have been several improvements for the the PayPal Checkout payment method.

A problem to do with Sharing Cart Contents has been resolved.

A problem has been fixed where an error could result when using Gift Certificates / Donations and Google Analytics.

Stock notification emails will not error on malformed email addresses now.

Under certain circumstances stock levels can be manipulated. As there is a security element to this issue we'd rather not give specific details but they are available on request to info AT ecommercetemplates DOT com

  • v7.6.4 — 15 December 2023

Stock is now handled better for orders which have a modification warning.

Previously if all the options for a product were out of stock for a product using ALT IDs, the product didn't show the "Out of Stock" button disabled, but rather the regular "Add to Cart" button. This has now been rectified.

There was a bug where trying to upload more than 7 images with the image manager could result in the uploaded image not populating the image manager row properly.

When using the $autobillingtoshipping parameter you could end up with "xxx-xxx-xxxx" for the shipping phone number for PayPal Checkout orders.

An error has been resolved when using radio buttons as extra checkout / order fields.

An error has been resolved when using the "nomailinglist" parameter but where the "mailinglistradios" is also set.

A different message is displayed if a category is protected by a login level or if it doesn't exist. In the case of a login then a "Login" button is displayed.

The search fields can now be specified in the categories admin page when searching for categories.

When a free shipping discount is used but the free shipping does not apply to the shipping insurance, swapping between the shipping methods could also remove the insurance from an order.

If an order payed via the Square payment processor had the order total changed and was then charged, when "capturing" the payment in the ECT Admin the charge amount would be the old and not the new order total and this has been fixed.

The situation where an order is started for a payment processor but modified before payment is accepted is now handled in a better manner.

Image uploads with a file extension of only 2 letters are now accepted.

Product options can now be listed by those that are used on a product and those that are used on a visible product.

Shipping insurance was not rounded properly in the cart.

  • v7.6.5 — 27 February 2024, important PayPal Checkout v2 Fixes

There is an important fix for PayPal Checkout where when capturing an order, if the order total had changed since the order was taken, the capture amount could be for the original total.

There is a fix for PayPal Checkout where the following could appear instead of the actual phone number for some orders: xxx-xxx-xxxx

When capturing orders using PayPal Checkout the order status was not changed in some circumstances, and this has been fixed now.

When using the tax setting, "showtaxinclusive=3" (Display Price inc GST only) an invalid total could be sent to PayPal Checkout which could cause problems when creating the order.

Products with special characters in the product name could cause invalid HTML on the product detail page so that in some cases the product could not be viewed and would likely cause problems with search engine indexing, and this is now fixed.

Dimensions can now be set in the ECT Admin -> Products page Quick Entry menu.

There is a fix for the latedownload page where the page extension was being ignored.

  • v7.6.6 — 26 April 2024

There was a bug which could cause incorrect shipping on PayPal checkout orders and this has now been fixed.

Special characters in Section Headers could cause an error.

There have been improvements and fixes in the image upload code.

There have been changes to resolve problems with PHP 8+

  • v7.7.6 — 6 June 2024

There have been some important fixes and improvements for PayPal Checkout, including an important fix for the Express checkout flow and an improvement in the way the PayPal Javascript files are loaded which is more fault tolerant.

There has been improvements in the way images are swapped for products with Alternate ID's. Also, classes are changed correctly when options with different stock statuses are changed.

There are more powerful search functions in the Mailing List admin pages so you can more finely tune mailshots.

There have been improvements to the handling of shipping carrier errors on checkout.

A bug has been fixed to do with Shipping Discounts where exemptions were not taken into account in some cases.

Some changes have been made for PHP 8+ compatibility.

Hotfix 26 July 2024: When using the PayPal Express flow with PayPal Checkout, if the order is substantially above the estimate then problems could occur when trying to re-authorize the higher amount. As the customer is not aware of this, this is a really important fix.
Also with PayPal Checkout we've improved the notification when a payment source is rejected.
